West Palm Beach guitarist - composer,
James McCreavy, is one of South Florida's finest musicians.
James (Jim) McCreavy has performed with Perry Como, Trini Lopez, saxophonist
Boots Randolph (Yakkety Sax) and with fellow composer Alex Harvey, who
had a mega hit with the song, Delta Dawn. He has established himself as
a composer and performer with such luminaries as jazz organist, Dr. Lonnie
Smith (who
spent his early years recording with George Benson) and multi - instrumentalist,
Ira Sullivan, with whom he has recorded. Additionally, he works a great
deal with Dave Hubbard (tenor sax) who also played with George Benson and Ray Charles. Recently James performed in South Florida with singers: Elaine Paige, Giada Valenti and Eddie Mekka (from the Laverne and Shirley show).
James has worked as musical director and guitarist for saxophonist Clarence
Clemons from grammy award winning Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Band. He
has three CD's to his credit: Night Vision , containing
many original works, Elegance , a solo CD on nylon
string guitar and Caribbean Connection , his most
recent CD, which features original compositions combined with island favorites.
He is a versatile player who is comfortable with many styles. Music works
for him.
He has played with Palm Beach and New York based society orchestras under the
leaderships of Neal Smith and Mike Carney.
He has performed at the prestigious Red Cross Ball and Heart Ball at the
Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach with the Neal Smith Orchestra.
Other regular venues include Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago
in Palm Beach, Via Viscaya in Miami, the Eden Roc (Miami Beach), the Kravis
Center of Performing Arts, the Meyer Amphitheater. He has played with
some of South Florida's more contemporary groups including the Steve Chase
Orchestra and Hot Brass Monkey. James recently finished two years with Trademark (Don and Debbie Bestor) in the Leopard Lounge
at the Chesterfield Hotel in Palm Beach. Click here
